• ABOUT ROQUETAS Roquetas is a pleasant community with a picturesque fishing-port, where there are many fine fish-restaurants. The town also contains a large holiday resort area, with hotels, shops, a wide variety of restaurants and plenty of the famous Andalucian Tapas-bars. There is an extensive beach, with opportunities for sailing, surfing, scuba-diving, fishing and swimming, or just, of course, for sunbathing andrelaxing. Roquetas has a beautiful 18-hole golf course at Playa Serena and at La Envia, in the mountains behind the resort, there is another impressive course with stunning views. • WEATHER The sun shines on Roquetas for well over 300 days a year, which means it is just about the sunniest place in Europe, and with so few days of rain the chances of a warm, sunny holiday are the best in Spain. • ACCOMMODATION RMS’s holiday accommodation is situated in the best parts of the resort, either facing the beach or a little inland where it is quiet, but even from here it is no more than a 5 minute walk to the beach and sea. We have properties to suit everyone from studios and apartments of all sizes to chalets and villas with private swimming pool. All are available to rent at reasonable prices. We can also provide cots, highchairs, Z-beds and barbecues. We can book taxis for you and arrange rental cars for whatever period you wish. • SURROUNDING AND TOURISM Just a short distance from the resort you can visit a special part of Spain. Behind Almeria City is the only desert in Europe, where many “Spaghetti” Westerns and other films were made. You can also enjoy the colours of the mountains from the Alpujarras, with their innumerable almond and olive trees. Further inland, in the magnificent Sierra Nevada, you can go skiing in the winter months. Cabo de Gata has a National Park, where you can see flamingos and enjoy wonderful views of the sea and the coastline. Tourism is not the only industry which produces a living for the people in this part of Spain.
